Back in the '80s, hip hop was more than just music – it was a movement. Young Pete McGarity got hooked on the culture, especially the fly haircuts that were a staple in the scene. Flipping through old issues of Word Up!, Right On!, and Black Beat, Pete saw the fresh styles of hip hop artists and got inspired. Obsessed with the looks he saw in those magazines, Pete's passion for cutting hair was born. Seeing his drive, his mom blessed him with a set of clippers, and the rest was history.
Fast forward to 2020, and Pete McGarity, now a legend in the barber game, founded Headlines Barber College. Known for his dope spots, “Headlines Barbershop” and “Headlines Barbershop, Two,” Pete took it up a notch by launching HBC. This ain't your average barber school – Pete designed it to be fresh and innovative, teaching advanced skills, real professionalism, and leadership. With the barber industry blowing up, especially in West Texas, shop owners are crying out for barbers who can bring top-notch technical skills, killer customer service, and build solid clientele. HBC is on the grind to meet this demand, cranking out barbers who are ready to hustle and make a name for themselves.
